Trump took the stage after Mr. Trump held a news conference with women who have accused Bill Clinton of sexual assault over the years. Donald J. Trump and Hillary Clinton faced off for the second time in a debate that unfolded with almost unremitting hostility at Washington University in St. Louis. Mr. Trump called the defectors “self-righteous hypocrites” and predicted their defeat at the ballot box. Before the second presidential debate on Sunday, Mr. Trump was joined on Facebook Live by three women who have made accusations against Bill and Hillary Clinton. North Carolina’s governor said the death toll from the storm had reached eight in a state still saturated from heavy rains in September. Nearly 900 have been reported dead, but the toll is difficult to determine as the country struggles to recover from the devastating storm. North Carolina residents had been hopeful that Hurricane Matthew would spare their state. Then the storm struck.
